Brown Sugar & Cinnamon "Homemade" Bread | Holiday Gifts

Image
I've told the story before - before Mike and I were even dating, I served warm "homemade" bread at a dinner party at my house, and he raved about it for weeks.  Did that lead to him finally asking me out?  I guess we'll never know...  The Barefoot Contessa has her "Engagement Roasted Chicken" and I have my "homemade" bread.   You can make a loaf size as in the first photo, or you can cut the log into cinnamon rolls and bake them in the Medium Size Basket instead.  My secret weapon to "homemade" bread is Rhodes frozen bread dough.  (This is not paid, by the way.)  It is found in almost every grocery store in the freezer department.  Over the years I have transformed the simple dough into Cinnamon Rolls, Monkey Bread, Pecan Rolls, Pizza Bread, etc.  When I saw these Wooden Bread Baking Baskets I knew they would be just the thing to take my "homemade" bread to the next level.  I've seen them many times in Martha Stewart used t...

Holiday Baking Collection | Hew Copper Cookie Cutters & Easy Baked Gift Ideas

Each season I select a collection of Handmade Copper Cookie Cutters for the Holidays.  This year's new addition is the Gingerbread Man.   I can't wait to make him with this Gingerbread Recipe and decorate with Cream Cheese frosting and sprinkles like we did in this photo.  I might even make some to dry as ornaments and string them as a garland - how sweet would that be? While I love iced sugar cookies, decorating doesn't have to be fancy - or even require any skill.  These were delicious and beautiful and so easy to make.  Here are my baking essentials (all recently restocked) that will make holiday baking simple : Holiday Baking Essentials : Parchment Paper , $10 for 100 Large Baking Sheet , $8 Small Baking Sheet , $7 Disposable Piping Bags , $14-18 for 100 Copper Cookie Cutters , $15.50-24 Cookie Boxes Cello Bags Gingerbread Man Copper Cutter, $15 Reindeer Copper Cookie Cutter, $15 These Gingerbread House are so much fun to make - and so much easier than maki...

Chocolate Bark | The Easiest Homemade Treat

Image
Last week, I hosted our annual Thanksgiving Baskets Party.  I always have snacks and wine for the girls.  This year, I made a cheese board and a couple of batches of Homemade Chocolate Bark.  I have always wanted to try it after watching the Barefoot Contessa make it.  It was beyond simple to make, it took a total of about 5 minutes and it is completey beautiful and delectable.  The combinations are endless. Candy making can be intimidating.  I don't really dabble too much in complex candy making.  This homemade chocolate bark was frighteningly simple.  Like, I could make a batch every afternoon without any effort.    I made two versions, one with milk chocolate and one with white chocolate.  This chocolate version has dried cranberries, cashews,  pistachios and sea salt.  The sea salt was absolutely an amazing touch - don't forget that!  I look forward to making a festive version with Emma with mini marshmallows, pr...
